Improvement of Capacity of PGOT Mardi Utomo Beneficiaries
CSR Phapros' Community Empowerment at Taman Pelangi Panti Pelayanan Sosial PGOT (Pengemis Gelandangan dan Orang Terlantar) Mardi Utomo continues with programs and activities aimed at self-sufficiency and improving the economy of the beneficiaries. One of the programs is the "Indigo Garden" which has been planted with Strobilathes indigo plants in the PGOT Mardi Utomo area. Indigo plants produce natural dye paste for batik.
On Wednesday, November 24, 2021, CSR Phapros, in collaboration with Zie Batik Semarang and accompanied by the management and staff of PGOT Mardi Utomo, held a training on Indigo plant care at PGOT Mardi Utomo to increase the knowledge and quality of the beneficiaries. The training was attended by 10 beneficiaries who were very enthusiastic and eager to participate. At the beginning of the training, Mr. Marheno from Zie Batik explained that the Indigofera Strobilathes plant produces good quality colors.
During the training, Zie Batik brought other seedlings, namely Indigofera Tingtoria, and provided knowledge on how to sow the plant. The seedlings brought will be sowed by the beneficiaries and will be planted among the previously planted indigo plant species.
The hope is that this program can continue until the production of the paste and the utilization of the paste for batik making.
