Towards Digital Transformation: Implementation of Industry 4.0 by PT Phapros Tbk

PT Phapros Tbk showed its commitment in supporting digital transformation by signing the Minutes of Industry 4.0 Implementation Assistance for the downstream chemical and pharmaceutical industry sectors. The signing was carried out on Wednesday (10/11) by Ida Rahmi Kurniasih, Plt. President Director of PT Phapros Tbk, together with representatives from the Ministry of Industry and PT Sucofindo.

The event marked the culmination of a series of mentoring activities that took place on September 26-27, 2024 and November 12-13, 2024. The mentoring was conducted with a comprehensive approach, including in-depth interviews to gain in-depth insights from the company's stakeholders, as well as field surveys to map the actual conditions in the field.

Evaluation Results: Measuring Readiness with INDI 4.0

One of the key outcomes of this activity is an assessment using INDI 4.0 (Indonesia Industry 4.0 Readiness Index). The INDI 4.0 score provides a comprehensive picture of PT Phapros Tbk's readiness to transform into the digital era. This assessment is based on five main pillars that become benchmarks, namely:

  1. Management and Organization: Assessing the strategy and commitment of management in implementing Industry 4.0-based technology and transformation.
  2. People and Culture: Assessing employees and corporate culture to transform to Industry 4.0.
  3. Products & Services: How ready are the company's services and products to fit Industry 4.0.
  4. Technology: Measures the level of adoption of advanced technologies, such as IoT (Internet of Things), big data, and artificialintelligence that have begun to be applied in the company.
  5. Plant Operations: Evaluates the company's operational readiness infrastructure, from factories to supply chain-related logistics to implement Industry 4.0 systems.

This score not only reflects Phapros' starting position in digital transformation but also serves as a roadmap for future improvements. The target expected by the Ministry of Industry is a minimum index of 2.51. Phapros obtained an INDI value from the mentoring results of 2.71.

Improvement Strategy: SWOT, Quick Wins, and Industry 4.0 Projects

In addition to the INDI 4.0 assessment, the mentoring also produced a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis that helped Phapros recognize strengths and opportunities that can be optimized, as well as weaknesses and challenges that need to be overcome.

As a concrete step, the mentoring team also provided quick win ideas, which are quick solutions that can be implemented immediately to accelerate the company's digital transformation. The recommendation from the assessor that Phapros needs to do is to make fundamental improvements to improve financial performance. Therefore, Phapros needs to conduct an Independent Assessment after conducting a pilot project in the area for Industry 4.0. It is expected that collaboration and commitment between departments involved are seen from the main pillars as benchmarks:

  1. Management: Strategic Plan, Legal
  2. Culture: HR-Human Capital
  3. Product: Marketing, Busdev, and RnD
  4. Technology: IT, Engineering (Utility and PML)
  5. Supply Chain and Factory: Procurement, PPIC, and Production and Engineering

Phapros' Commitment in Supporting the Industry 4.0 Ecosystem

Ida Rahmi Kurniasih, Plt. President Director of PT Phapros Tbk, emphasized that this activity is part of the company's strategic steps to become a pioneer of digital transformation in the downstream chemical and pharmaceutical sectors. "We believe that digital transformation is key to driving sustainability and competitiveness in the Industry 4.0 era. This collaboration strengthens our commitment to provide added value, both for the company and for the industrial ecosystem as a whole, “ Ida said in her speech.

This activity also reflects the synergy between the government and industry players in creating a more innovative and competitive ecosystem. With the support of the Ministry of Industry and PT Sucofindo, Phapros not only optimizes internal processes but also opens opportunities to collaborate with external parties to face future challenges and opportunities.

The Future of Digital Transformation in the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry

This strategic step is expected to have a significant positive impact. Digital transformation will not only improve Phapros' operational efficiency but also contribute to the growth of the national chemical and pharmaceutical industry.

This transformation is not just about technology adoption, but also about creating a future-oriented culture of innovation.

With the results that have been achieved, Phapros is optimistic that it can go further in the implementation of Industry 4.0 to support its vision of becoming a highly competitive company and contribute to the development of Indonesia's digital economy.
