Landslide Disaster Mitigation Awareness for the Local Community

Semarang, July 16, 2025 — PT Phapros Tbk, in collaboration with MDMC (Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center), held a landslide disaster mitigation awareness program at the Avicena Building. The event was attended by 30 participants, including members of the Disaster Preparedness Group, BABINSA (Village Security Officers), youth organizations (Karang Taruna), PKK, Linmas, as well as neighborhood and community leaders (RT and RW). The Head of Bongsari Sub-district, Yuliarti, S.Sos, also participated in the program until the end.

This initiative was a joint effort between the TJSL (Social and Environmental Responsibility) and EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) departments. It was carried out because Bongsari Sub-district is considered a landslide-prone area, making it essential for residents to have knowledge and skills in disaster mitigation. Through this program, PT Phapros Tbk aims to raise public awareness and improve community preparedness in facing potential landslides.

During the session, MDMC provided comprehensive explanations on the steps to be taken before, during, and after a landslide occurs. Participants also learned from real case studies of landslides in other regions and discussed effective mitigation strategies. The community showed strong enthusiasm by actively asking questions, engaging in discussions, and sharing their understanding of key concepts such as disaster, mitigation, evacuation, impact, early warning, and preparedness.

The speakers also explained early signs of potential landslides, such as soil cracks or ground shifts. To support disaster preparedness, PT Phapros Tbk donated one chainsaw unit to the Disaster Preparedness Group and distributed pandan plants to all participants.

Through this initiative, the people of Bongsari Sub-district are expected to be more prepared and responsive in dealing with landslides, thereby reducing risks and potential impacts. PT Phapros Tbk remains committed to supporting similar activities in the future to enhance community awareness and knowledge of disaster mitigation.
