PT Phapros Tbk Receives Award in Environmental Social & Innovation Awards (ENSIA) 2024
Environmental and Social Innovation Awards (ENSIA) is a national award event as a form of appreciation to business actors in Indonesia. ENSIA is organized by PT Sucofindo with several award categories including environmental innovation, social innovation, and inspirational local hero. Participants of ENSIA activities in 2024 consist of 175 companies which are business actors from various industrial sectors throughout Indonesia.
PT Phapros Tbk as one of the companies in the pharmaceutical sector, participated in the ENSIA selection for the environmental innovation category. Phapros' participation in this award shows the company's commitment to be able to make a positive contribution in reducing environmental impacts. The Phapros team involved in the ENSIA assessment consisted of the Utility Department and the EHS Department. The theme of the proposed paper is the water efficiency of Reverse Osmosis Concentrate Water Recycle.
Recycle Air Concentrate Reverse Osmosisis an innovation of adding components through modification of the distribution path of concentrate water distribution which was originally flowed to the WWTP into distribution for raw water for the production process and supporting facilities (lavatory). Before flowing to the two distributions, the concentrate water produced is first filtered using a coarse filter to ensure water quality according to standards. Water that has gone through the filtration process is then temporarily accommodated in a reservoir and then flowed through the two distribution channels according to its use.
The Reverse Osmosis Concentrate Water Recycle Program is unique because of the integration of the concentrate water recycle process which is the residue of the process with the distribution of raw production water and supporting facilities (lavatory) so that the process is more efficient in terms of consumption and operation of the water treatment plant. In 2023, this program succeeded in reducing water usage by 15,511.7m3/year. This program also contributes to SDGs goal 6 to ensure the availability and sustainable management of clean water and sanitation for all with target indicator 6.4.2 (b) the proportion of raw water intake sourced from groundwater to its availability.
After going through the assessment, Phapros managed to get a platinum category award for the category of environmental innovation in the aspect of water efficiency. The water efficiency award was given to 75 companies that had passed the paper screening from 111 companies that submitted papers. The awards are tiered from platinum, gold, and silver levels. ENSIA's peak awarding event was held on July 31, 2024 at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali. The peak awarding event also invited Mr. Alue Dohong, PhD as Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and related parties. In this peak event, PT Phapros was represented by Mr. Emir Ardiasnyah as marketing Phapros Bali Branch to receive the award directly in the form of a plaque and certificate of appreciation.
Receiving this award is a good start for Phapros to continue to carry out environmental programs and innovations that can compete with innovations from other companies. The achievements that have been obtained also encourage Phapros to encourage the implementation of sustainable business.
