PLOGGING DAY PHAPROS: Celebrating Independence with Environmental Care

Sunday morning, July 13, 2025 — The courtyard of the Phapros Office on Imam Bonjol Street, Semarang, looked different than usual. Phapros employees, dressed in white jerseys, joined forces with the Playon Ambyar Nusantara community in red jerseys, ready to enliven the streets of downtown Semarang in the PLOGGING DAY event.

Plogging Day is an activity that combines casual jogging with picking up litter. In line with the red-and-white jerseys, the event was held to commemorate Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day, embodying the spirit of independence not only through celebration but also through concrete positive contributions to the environment.

The event began at 6:00 a.m. with the singing of the national anthem Indonesia Raya as an expression of love for the homeland. Participants then followed a 6-kilometer route, starting from the Phapros Office on Imam Bonjol Street, passing through Pierre Tendean Street, Pemuda Street, circling the Simpang Lima area, and returning to the starting point. Along the way, participants not only exercised but also actively collected litter scattered along the streets.

This initiative reflects Phapros’s commitment to sustainability principles and social responsibility toward both society and the environment. At the end of the activity, participants gathered back at the office to hand in the collected waste. In total, 40 bags of trash weighing around 50 kilograms were gathered, consisting of plastic bottles, cardboard, used banners, and other types of waste.

Looking ahead, the company hopes this activity will become an annual tradition, inviting Phapros employees and the surrounding community to take part in environmental care. Through simple acts such as walking or jogging while picking up litter, the spirit of preserving cleanliness and sustainability can continue to grow.
