Phapros Supports Mageri Segoro Program: GREENING THE COAST THROUGH MANGROVE AND SEA PINE PLANTING

Semarang, October 15, 2025 As a concrete form of commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable development, PT Phapros Tbk participated in the Mangrove and Sea Pine Planting activity at the Wijayakusuma Industrial Estate (KIW), Semarang. This activity is part of the Mageri Segoro Program, a major movement initiated by the Central Java Provincial Government to strengthen coastal ecosystem resilience and encourage active participation from various parties in protecting the environment.

Mageri Segoro Program: Mutual Cooperation (Gotong Royong) to Protect the Central Java Coast The Mageri Segoro Program, which means "fencing the sea," is one of the priority programs of the Central Java Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Drs. Ahmad Luthfi, S.H., S.St., M.K. This movement aims to protect the coastal ecosystem from the threats of abrasion, seawater intrusion, and increasingly widespread tidal flooding (rob).

In 2025, this program targets the planting of 2 million mangrove and sea pine trees along the Central Java coastline. The planting is carried out simultaneously in 17 coastal regencies/cities involving various parties, such as local governments, business entities, TNI/Polri (Military/Police), universities, farmer groups, environmental communities, and coastal communities. Planting has been carried out in two phases:

  • Phase I (March-September 2025): 668,000 trees (+75 hectares).

  • Phase II (October 2025): 1,304,410 trees (+150 hectares) carried out simultaneously in 17 coastal regencies/cities of Central Java.

The peak planting activity on October 15, 2025, was centered at Muara Kencana Beach and Kinasih Beach, Kendal Regency, and was led directly by the Governor of Central Java. This event was even recorded in the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) as "Simultaneous Mangrove Planting with the Highest Number of Planting Blocks on the Coast of Central Java Province."

In his remarks, Governor Ahmad Luthfi held a teleconference dialogue with coastal communities in various regions of Central Java and emphasized that Mageri Segoro is not just a ceremony, but a sustainable collaborative movement.

"The Mageri Segoro Program is a concrete manifestation of gotong royong by all elements of society to protect nature and the future of the Central Java coast. Planting trees means planting life for the next generation," he said.

He emphasized that this activity must not stop at the planting ceremony alone. "I ask the Regents and Mayors in 264 planting zones to conduct patrols every three days, led by their respective Environment Agencies. Mr. Widi (Head of Central Java DLHK), issue a circular letter if necessary; remember, after planting, it must be maintained, after maintained, it must be cared for, if any die, replace them." The Governor asserted.

Semarang City: Planting Hope, Fencing the Sea As part of the simultaneous activity, the Semarang City Government also held the planting of sea pine and mangrove trees in the Mangunharjo Beach area, Tugu District. This activity was led directly by the Mayor of Semarang, Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti, and became a symbol of the city government's active involvement in strengthening natural barriers in coastal areas vulnerable to abrasion and tidal floods.

"The beach for Semarang is like a house fence. If the fence is damaged, the whole city will be exposed to risk. Therefore, we must strengthen this fence by planting trees capable of protecting against abrasion and waves," said Agustina in her remarks.

Overall, a total of 18,040 sea pine and mangrove seedlings were planted at various points on the Semarang coast, including at Baruna Beach, Tirang Beach, KIW Beach, Trimulyo, and Mangunharjo.

Industrial Collaboration: Planting at Wijayakusuma Industrial Estate (KIW) As a form of the Mageri Segoro activity at the city level, PT Kawasan Industri Wijayakusuma (KIW) together with PT Phapros Tbk, PT Sido Muncul, PT APTIV Components Indonesia, PT Kubota, PT MAS Arya Indonesia, and other companies held a Mangrove and Sea Pine Planting activity in the KIW Edge area and the riverbanks on the north side of the industrial estate.

A total of 3,700 mangrove seedlings and 851 sea pine seedlings were planted in the green area spanning 675 meters on the east and west sides of KIW Edge, as well as on the riverbanks spanning 550 meters on the north side of the industrial estate.

KIW President Director, Ahmad Fauzie Nur, stated that this activity shows that the industrial world can be part of the solution to environmental challenges.

In this activity, PT Phapros Tbk provided support in the form of 130 sea pine tree seedlings, chosen because they are the most suitable plant type for the land characteristics in coastal industrial areas. Sea pines have the ability to withstand strong winds, reduce abrasion, and strengthen soil structure in sandy beach areas.

This activity also involved 26 companies participating through the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, including PT Phapros Tbk, PT Sido Muncul, PLN, Pertamina, PT Indofood Noodle, PT Kubota, PT Victoria Care, and PT Kawasan Industri Wijayakusuma (KIW).

Phapros' involvement in this activity is part of the company's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).

This activity aligns with the company's value to maintain harmony between business and environmental sustainability. PT Phapros Tbk wants to contribute directly to protecting the coast from the threats of abrasion and climate change. Besides having an ecological impact, this activity also serves as a means of environmental education for employees and the community around the industrial estate, as well as strengthening collaborative networks between the government, the business world, academics, and environmental communities.
