Megathrust Socialization and Earthquake Handling Training

The rampant news of the megathrust earthquake and the geographical location of the company near the active fault line, PT Phapros Tbk immediately took a stand in preparation for the worst possible emergency. Thursday, September 26, 2024 PT Phapros Tbk carried out megathrust socialization activities and earthquake simulations initiated by the EHS (Environment, Health, Safety) department and collaborated with the TJSL (Social and Environmental Responsibility) and HC (Human Capital) departments.
This activity was held in the Big Avicena Meeting Room of PT Phapros Tbk by cooperating with BPBD Semarang City as a resource person. No less than 50 (fifty) participants attended the entire series of activities where the participants were representatives of the PT Phapros Tbk emergency response team, representatives of the KSB (Disaster Preparedness Village) team in Bongsari village as well as Babinsa and Babinkamtibmas.
The activity was opened with remarks from the EHS manager, Mr. Bhisma Akbar Pradana, followed by remarks from the Head of Bongsari Village, Mrs. Yuliarti, S.Sos, followed by a symbolic handover of evacuation directions and trash cans for residents of Bongsari Village.
The main event began, Mr. Dwi Istanto as the Sub Coordinator of Preparedness of BPBD Semarang City delivered socialization about the megathrust and fault line maps in Semarang City. “Although the megathrust originates from the southern sea, Semarang City is likely to be affected by the tail only, but we must remain vigilant because the megathrust earthquake can activate the fault lines in Semarang City,” said Mr. Dwi Istanto when answering participants' questions during the discussion session.
The second session continued with Mr. Didik Setio Nugroho from the Semarang City Disaster Risk Reduction Forum explaining the importance of knowing the disaster risks in the area around the company so that it can form a resilient company and become a disaster response ambassador.
At the end of the activity, all participants had the opportunity to take part in an evacuation simulation during an earthquake in the PT Phapros Tbk area, then evaluate the activity and discuss the elements of the emergency response team structure and the flow of emergency communication.
With the implementation of this activity, it is hoped that it can open our eyes to be more concerned about the threat of disasters both in the company and around us, as well as providing knowledge about how to handle both before, during and after a disaster, to be practiced when needed.
