Indonesia's Health Diplomacy Strengthens Phapros' Steps Toward the Global Pharmaceutical Market

Phapros has once again reaffirmed its ambition to play a larger role in the global pharmaceutical industry through synergy between the State-Owned Pharmaceutical Holding and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This was reflected in the "Production Facility Visit and Health Diplomacy Dialogue for the Pharmaceutical Sector" held on April 9–10, 2026. This agenda served as a strategic momentum to demonstrate Phapros' readiness—not only as a domestic player, but also as a competitive, highly resilient global health partner.

The activity, initiated by PT Kimia Farma Tbk, began with a visit to Plant Banjaran, Bandung Regency, followed by a visit to the production facilities of PT Bio Farma (Persero) on Jalan Pasteur, Bandung. Through this visit, delegates directly observed the readiness of pharmaceutical manufacturing technology and Indonesia's globally recognized vaccine production capacity. Commercial Director of Kimia Farma, Hanadi Setiarto, emphasized that cross-sector collaboration is key to opening wider and more sustainable international market access.

The main focus of this dialogue was mapping export opportunities to the Asia-Pacific and African regions, which are seen as having significant growth potential for national pharmaceutical products. Through the strengthening of Government-to-Government (G2G) schemes, the government and State-Owned Pharmaceutical Holding aim to create more structured, credible, and sustainable export channels. Indonesia holds a strong foundation, considering Bio Farma Group is already the largest vaccine manufacturer in Southeast Asia, with a production capacity reaching 3.4 billion doses per year and an export reach spanning over 150 countries worldwide.

More than just business expansion, this health diplomacy is also a crucial part of strengthening national health resilience. The integration of the pharmaceutical ecosystem—ranging from development, production, to distribution—serves as the foundation to boost national industry competitiveness. The synergy between Bio Farma Group and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs proves that economic diplomacy is now taking shape through concrete action, taking Indonesia's featured products into the global health market while bolstering Indonesia's position in the global pharmaceutical industry. Through this event, Phapros is optimistic about expanding its international cooperation network while introducing the quality of Indonesian pharmaceutical products to an increasingly competitive global market.
