Inashunt Dryworkshop Innovation: Phapros' Educational Contribution to Indonesian Neurosurgery Education
As a national pharmaceutical company that continues to innovate, PT Phapros Tbk has launched a flagship educational program called Inashunt Dryworkshop. This dryworkshop innovation is the first and only one of its kind in Indonesia. It is specifically designed to enhance the competence of neurosurgeons in Indonesia in placing VP-shunts (Inashunt), a vital medical device for treating hydrocephalus.
Through eight Neurosurgery Education centers, PT Phapros Tbk communicated with the Heads of Neurosurgery Study Programs. The dryworkshop innovation is a practical simulation-based learning approach using Cranial to Abdomen Phantoms, equipped with complete surgical instruments to closely mimic actual surgery. Neurosurgery consultants and neurosurgery residents can hone their technical skills without direct risk to patients.
Strategic collaboration with eight leading neurosurgery education centers in Indonesia forms the foundation of this program's success. These eight institutions are spread across various regions, with roadshows conducted between March 2025 and May 2026. Starting from UI, UNDIP, UNHAS, UDAYANA, UNAIR, UNPAD, USU, and ending at UGM as the final roadshow location, the program ensures even educational coverage nationwide. This cooperation not only strengthens academic networks but also builds confidence within the neurosurgery community regarding Inashunt as a high-quality domestic product.
The applied dryworkshop method offers a unique and effective learning experience. Participants have the opportunity to practice VP-Shunt (Inashunt) placement techniques using simulation models that resemble real anatomical conditions. Direct guidance from senior neurosurgery instructors enables optimal knowledge transfer, while clinical case discussions enrich participants' understanding of various scenarios they may face in the operating room. Testimonials from professors and neurosurgery consultants expressed appreciation for the Dryworkshop roadshow innovation across the eight education centers. This appreciation has prompted the submission of this program to the Indonesian Neurosurgery College as a competency exam tool while serving as an effective promotion medium for Inashunt.
The impact of this program on improving the competence of neurosurgery consultants and residents is highly significant. Participating doctors reported increased confidence and technical ability in performing VP-Shunt (Inashunt) placement procedures. In-depth knowledge of Inashunt's specifications and advantages, including material biocompatibility and precise valve design, makes practitioners increasingly confident in recommending this product to their patients. All feedback gathered during the dryworkshop roadshow was submitted to PT Swayasa Prakarsa as the manufacturer of Inashunt for further product enhancements.
The success of the Inashunt Dryworkshop is reflected not only in educational aspects but also in impressive business performance. PT Phapros Tbk recorded a 19% growth in Inashunt sales in 2025 (2,521 units) compared to 2024 (2,125 units), with MTD April 2026 growing by 25% compared to April 2025 alongside an increasing number of neurosurgeons using Inashunt as a direct result of this program. This achievement proves that investing in education through strategic collaboration is the right strategy to create dual value: elevating national healthcare quality while driving sustainable business growth.
In addition to the existing Inashunt product, this dryworkshop initiative is paving the way for a new product, NoeShunTara EVD (External Ventricular Drainage), currently in the prototype workshop process by PT Phapros Tbk and PT Swayasa Prakarsa in partnership with UDAYANA, led by Prof. Dr. dr. Tjokorda Gde Bagus Mahadewa, M.Kes, Sp.BS(K) who also serves as the researcher. This inter-university collaboration brokered by PT Phapros Tbk will further strengthen strategic ties, which is expected to boost PT Phapros Tbk's revenue in 2028.
Through the Inashunt Dryworkshop, PT Phapros Tbk reaffirms its commitment to delivering innovation and collaboration that support the competency enhancement of healthcare workers and the quality of healthcare services in Indonesia.
