Committed to Preventing Stunting, Phapros Participates in Balanced Nutrition Campaign and Tablet Tambah Darah Distribution Campaign

Bandung, August 11, 2022 - Stunting cases in toddlers have become one of the most highlighted child health issues by the government. Based on the 2021 Indonesia Toddler Nutrition Status Survey (SSGBI) by the Ministry of Health, it is reported that 24.5% of toddlers in West Java experience stunting. One of the causes of growth impairment in toddlers is anemia in pregnant women. To prevent this condition, continuous efforts are needed to improve health and nutrition starting from adolescence.

PT Phapros Tbk, which is part of the large family of State-Owned Pharmaceutical Holding, is committed to preventing stunting. This is evidenced by Phapros' participation in the Balanced Nutrition Campaign and the Red Blood Tablet Tambah Darah(TTD) Campaign initiated by the West Java Province Health Office, and the record-breaking achievement by MURI as the "Largest Number of Participants Simultaneously Consuming Red Blood Cell-Boosting Tablets".

Phapros' Marketing Director, Imelda Alini Pohan, stated that the company appreciates the government's programs in stunting prevention efforts. "Although the stunting rate continues to decrease every year, the public must still be well-educated to prevent stunted toddlers in the future," she said.

"Therefore, Phapros will continue to support various government programs, one of which is the provision of TTD to more than 1.5 million people or 70% of teenage girls in West Java Province from 70% of educational institutions conducted today. The provision of TTD aims to prevent teenage girls from experiencing anemia. Phapros will also continue to support similar programs in other regions throughout Indonesia," added Imelda, who is affectionately called Imel.

In a separate occasion, the Head of West Java Province Health Office, dr. R. Nina Susana Dewi, Sp.PK (K), stated that the prevalence of stunting in West Java Province was categorized as high in 2021, targeting zero new stunting cases in West Java by 2023. To address this issue, Nina continued that a joint movement is needed between the local government, sub-district heads, village heads, targeting adolescents, pregnant women with anemia, and chronic energy deficiency (CED) by conducting specific and sensitive interventions.

The provision of red blood Tablet Tambah Darah(TTD) and anemia screening is one of the actions taken by the West Java Province Health Office in addressing stunting by targeting adolescent girls. "Providing TTD to junior and senior high school girls once a week during school activities so that consumption can be done together at school and monitored by teachers, as well as conducting hemoglobin (Hb) examination on 7th and 10th-grade female students," she added.

In addition to targeting adolescent girls, TTD provision is also given to pregnant women, accompanied by pregnancy examination and the provision of supplementary food.
