Apply Green Energy, Phapros successfully achieves efficiency of 12.9 percent per year.

JAKARTA, July 14th, 2022 - Green energy is an energy source that comes from relatively safe materials and does not have negative impacts on the environment. In the Directory Journal of Economic, it is explained that green energy is a clean energy that does not pollute or add pollutants to the atmosphere. PT Phapros Tbk, a pharmaceutical company that is part of the State-Owned Pharmaceutical Holding, has made green energy programs one of its policies and production standards. The use of technology is an absolute requirement in maintaining environmental sustainability as a green economic element.

According to Hadi Kardoko, President Director of PT Phapros Tbk, the global level of carbon emissions is already very high, which has encouraged countries that held the Climate Change Conference (COP 26) last year to commit to reducing it to net-zero carbon levels. The Indonesian government is working with the industrial sector to continue to achieve this target by 2060.

"In the pharmaceutical sector, we are trying to achieve this target through programs that have become the company's commitment in promoting the concept of green energy. One of them is converting solar fuel energy to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), which is supported by the use of Green Hydrocarbon Chillers and solar panels. As a result, Phapros has successfully reduced carbon emissions by 790 tons per year," he said when contacted in Jakarta (14/7).

Hadi added that green energy is not only about carbon dioxide, but also about conserving water resources to avoid wasteful production.

"In this case, we are also committed to reducing water consumption by utilizing washing steriline technology in the production facility of Phapros injection products. We have modified the machines so that we have managed to reduce water consumption by 50 percent or 225 thousand liters per year."

Phapros also uses N2 and O2 generators to reduce the use of gas cylinder waste, said Hadi.

"Overall, our commitment to green energy has increased company efficiency by 12.9 percent per year. This is certainly a very positive thing for a pharmaceutical company that is synonymous with carbon pollution in its manufacturing activities. As evidence of Phapros' commitment to green business and sustainability, we have received the Green PROPER from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry 8 times since 2012-2020," said Hadi.

In the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2024, low-carbon development and climate resilience have become national priority agendas in development activities in Indonesia. The government has expressed its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 29 percent during that period.

"Phapros wants to help the government achieve this target. And what Phapros has been doing so far is not the end point. We will continue to innovate in reducing carbon gas emissions in the production process so that in the long run, we can contribute to improving the world's climate," he concluded.
