Implements Sustainable Business Process, Phapros Wins Green PROPER Award From Ministry of Environment and Forestry
Jakarta, 8th of January 2020 - PT Phapros Tbk, subsidiary of PT Kimia Farma (Persero), Tbk, has received the Green category PROPER award from the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) today (8/1) at the Office of the Vice President's Secretariat, Central Jakarta.
PROPER (stands for Program Penilaian Kinerja Perusahaan dalam Pengelolaan Lingkungan Hidup) is also one of the leading programs of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in the field of pollution control, environmental damage, and hazardous and toxic waste management.
The Minister of Environment and Forestry, Siti Nurbaya, who opened the award ceremony, said that based on the evaluation results of 2,045 companies, the company performance rating was set in the 2018-2019 PROPER period, there were 2 companies included in the black category, 303 companies in the red category, 1,507 companies in the blue category, 174 companies in the green category, and 26 companies in the gold category.
Siti Nurbaya added that PROPER not only encourages companies to protect the environment, but also conducts community empowerment and innovation programs to improve people's welfare, and efficiency in all fields of business.
On the other hand, the President Director of Phapros, Barokah Sri Utami (Emmy) said that the Green PROPER for the 2018-2019 period was the 7th Green PROPER award the sole producer of Antimo has achieved, as of 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019.
Emmy explained that Phapros always supports environmental preservation. This award proves that Phapros is one of the companies that applies the principles of green economy, in which some elements contained are energy saving, air conservation, biological protection and emissions.
"In addition to implementing an integrated CSR programs, we also invest in environmentally friendly technology. Some of the technologies that we use include solar panels, hydrocarbon based cooling machines in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (green chiller "NAMA"), and Compress Natural Gas (CNG) technology used for conversion of diesel fuel to gas in our drug production area in Semarang, " she added.
Emmy clarified that the total savings made by Phapros -who goes by the ticker symbol PEHA in Indonesia Stock Exchange- could reach Rp 1.5 billion per year by applying environmentally friendly technology. In the near future, Phapros will aim for the highest level at the award, which is the gold ranking.
