Phapros is committed to building a stunting-free digital generation.

Purwakarta, September 23, 2022 – PT Phapros Tbk, which is a part of the State-Owned Pharmaceutical Holding, is committed to preventing stunting through various products, particularly those containing complete multivitamins and iron. This is evidenced by Phapros' participation in the "Gen Z Talent Activation- Building a Stunting-Free Digital Generation" event initiated by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, Telkomsel, and Bio Farma, and attended directly by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, at SMA Negeri 1 Purwakarta on Friday (23/9).

At the event, Phapros, together with Bio Farma (Persero), had the opportunity to provide direct education to students about the importance of preventing stunting from an early age. Early intervention is necessary to ensure healthy adolescent girls who are free from anemia, thus enabling the creation of a generation of stunting-free, energetic, and high-achieving future leaders.

As is known, stunting is one of the most concerning health problems for children and adolescents in Indonesia. Based on the 2021 Indonesia Child Nutritional Status Survey (SSGBI) data from the Ministry of Health, the national prevalence of stunting is 24.4%, and in West Java alone, it is 24.5%. Although the prevalence of stunting in West Java is not as high as in NTT, West Sulawesi, and Central Sulawesi, the large population of children and adolescents in the province still results in a significant number of cases. According to data from the Stunting Distribution Dashboard from the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2022, about 3.2 million toddlers in West Java were found to experience stunting.

At the Gen Z activation event, Phapros' Marketing Director, Imelda Alini Pohan, stated that one way to prevent stunting is by consuming blood-boosting tablets for female students. "One of the causes of stunting is anemia in pregnant women. Intervention efforts are needed before this occurs, namely by preventing anemia from an early age in adolescents through optimizing nutrition and regular consumption of blood-boosting tablets (TTD) once a week," she said.

On the other hand, a survey by Nutrition International in 2018 found that the prevalence of anemia in adolescent girls in West Java was 41.93%, while the coverage of adolescent girls who received blood-boosting tablets in 2021 was only 25.2%, which is still below the target for West Java Province, which is 52%.

"Based on the survey results, collaboration programs are needed with various stakeholders, such as the one we are doing today at SMAN 1 Purwakarta. Female students are expected not only to take blood-boosting tablets together today but also to continue changing their behavior by regularly taking blood-boosting tablets because their food intake alone is not enough to meet their iron needs," added Imelda during the event of simultaneously taking blood-boosting tablets (TTD) witnessed directly by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, and Purwakarta Regent, Anne Ratna Mustika.

One tangible form of PT Phapros Tbk's commitment to addressing National stunting is the development of several products related to addressing malnutrition and anemia by Phapros in a focused manner, as well as cooperation with local governments in more than 15 provinces to jointly educate about stunting and prevention efforts, one of which is the simultaneous Gebyar Minum Tablet Tambah Darah event with 70 percent of female students in West Java conducted by Phapros and the Ministry of Health last August in Bandung, which successfully broke the MURI record. This is done to encourage the creation of a healthy generation of stunting-free Indonesians in the future.
