Achieving PROPER Green, PT Phapros Tbk Committed to Preserving the Environment

JAKARTA, February 24, 2025 – PT Phapros Tbk once again received the 9th PROPER Green award at the 2025 PROPER Awards held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Sasono Langen Budoyo, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, East Jakarta. The award was received by Bhisma Akbar Pradana, former EHS Manager. Out of 4,495 companies participating in the PROPER program, only 227 achieved the Green Rating.

PT Phapros Tbk earned the PROPER Green Award with a rating of “beyond compliance.” This means that PT Phapros Tbk not only complies with laws and regulations but also contributes added value in the form of efficient use of natural resources, effective energy conservation, and social development in the surrounding community.

The PROPER award is a program of the Ministry of Environment aimed at improving environmental and social quality and management. The PROPER assessment is conducted annually, where companies receive a reputation based on their environmental and social management efforts.

This achievement is a testament to the hard work of all company elements and stakeholders in realizing the integration of sustainable environmental and social programs. The PROPER award received in 2025 is the result of the company's performance assessment during the 2023-2024 period. The PROPER program itself has a stimulating effect on companies to comply with environmental regulations and add value to natural resource conservation and community empowerment.

This environmental award was given for the PROPER Green, Gold, and Green Leadership rankings. This year's award was presented directly by the Minister of Environment and the PROPER Advisory Council, accompanied by the Deputy for Pollution and Environmental Damage Control of the Ministry of Environment.

The environmental award ceremony began with an opening, a report on the implementation of PROPER by the Deputy for Pollution and Environmental Damage Control of the Ministry of Environment, a speech from the Minister of Environment, the presentation of the PROPER Green award, the presentation of the green leadership award, and the presentation of the PROPER Gold award.

The Minister of Environment, Dr. Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, also delivered several directives related to the implementation of PROPER during the award ceremony. Among the directives, it was mentioned that the number of companies participating in PROPER has continued to increase over the past two decades. The results of the PROPER evaluation have also been submitted to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, highlighting improvements in the number of Eco Innovations, the number of programs contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the allocation of funds for community empowerment. Going forward, PROPER will serve as an instrument for integrating company and government programs.

During this assessment period, there were 4,496 PROPER participants, with 2,961 compliant companies, 1,329 non-compliant companies, and 205 companies under legal enforcement or not in operation. From the performance evaluation results, 85 companies received the PROPER Gold Award, and 227 companies received the PROPER Green Award. In the “green leadership” category, 6 company leaders received the “green leadership” main award, and 8 company leaders received the “green leadership” intermediate award.

The environmental programs implemented by PT Phapros Tbk were carried out in the aspects of natural resource conservation through energy efficiency, emission reduction, reduction of hazardous waste, 3R of non-hazardous solid waste, water efficiency and reduction of water pollution, and protection of biodiversity. PT Phapros Tbk also conducted a life cycle assessment for representative product groups. The flagship program for energy efficiency is Boiler Technology Transfer with a total energy efficiency of 2,399.15 GJ, the flagship program for emission reduction is Operational Modification of the Central Compressed Air System with a reduction of 166.4 tons of CO2eq, the flagship program for reducing hazardous waste is the reuse of endotoxin glass and sterile tips, resulting in a reduction of 0.337 tons of hazardous waste; the flagship 3R program for non-hazardous solid waste is the reduction of Wypall, resulting in a reduction of 0.0237 tons of non-hazardous waste; and the flagship program for water efficiency is the reuse of backwash multimedia filters, resulting in a reduction of 1,239 m³ of water.

Additionally, in the social aspect, PT Phapros Tbk implemented community empowerment programs in the Company's Ring 1 area, specifically in Bongsari Village, through flagship programs such as Posmantiv, Dunia Snack Bongsari, and Child-Friendly School. Community empowerment and biodiversity conservation were also carried out at PGOT Mardi Utomo through the flagship program Taman Pelangi. In terms of disaster response, PT Phapros Tbk also assists in addressing disaster-related issues at the regional and international levels.

On the other hand, Ida Rahmi Kurniasih, Acting Director of PT Phapros Tbk, expressed her hopes regarding the award of the PROPER Award in the GREEN category.

“Phapros is always committed to preserving the environment. This award proves that Phapros is one of the companies that applies the principles of green economy, where the concept of green economy aims to improve the welfare and social equality of the community (poverty eradication) while reducing the impact of environmental damage,” she said.

The achievement of the Green PROPER Award by PT Phapros Tbk will serve as a focus for the company to continue optimizing its performance in environmental and social management to support the realization of sustainable development and benefits for the environment and surrounding communities, while also becoming a target for the company's key performance indicators set for 2025.
